RentMate Privacy Policy
RentMate is a rent and tenant record keeper for landlords. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
The short version: it stays on your phone.
We do not collect your data
RentMate has no account system, no server and no analytics. The developer cannot see your properties, your tenants, your balances or your payments, because none of it is ever transmitted anywhere.
Android does list internet access among this app's permissions. That comes from the Google Play Billing library, which handles PRO purchases and brings the permission with it. RentMate's own code makes no network requests of any kind.
There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What is stored, and where
Everything you enter is stored in RentMate's private storage on your device:
- properties, units, tenants, leases
- rent charges, payments, receipts and balances
- utility meter readings, security deposits and expenses
- photos and documents you attach
- your app settings, such as theme, language and receipt numbering
This storage is private to RentMate. Other apps on your phone cannot read it.
Automatic cloud backup is switched off, so your records are not copied to Google's servers as a side effect of using an Android phone. You move your data yourself, using RentMate's backup feature, to a file and location you choose.
Tenant information
RentMate lets you record details about your tenants, including names, mobile numbers and, optionally, identification details and documents. Only a name is required; every other field can be left blank.
You are responsible for the tenant information you enter. Collect only what you need, and tell your tenants what you keep. RentMate never uploads any of it.
Photos and documents
Photos are chosen through the Android system picker, which shows the app only the images you pick. RentMate never gains access to your whole gallery. Selected files are copied into the app's own private storage and never leave the device.
Permissions

RentMate does not request access to your contacts, location, call log or SMS. Sharing a receipt or a reminder opens your own app of choice; RentMate never sends a message by itself.
Feedback
Sending feedback opens your own email app with a draft containing the app version, your Android version and your phone model. Nothing about your tenants, properties or money is included, and nothing is sent until you press send.
Purchases
The RentMate PRO unlock is a one-time purchase processed by Google Play. Google, not the developer of RentMate, handles your payment details. The app only learns whether the purchase exists. Google's handling of payment data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Backups
A RentMate backup file contains all of your records, and it is written to a location you choose. If you set a passphrase when creating it, the file is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from that passphrase; the passphrase is never stored and cannot be recovered. A backup created without a passphrase is not encrypted, and the app says so at the time.
Once a backup file is on your Drive, a memory card or anywhere else, it is yours to look after. Treat it the way you would treat the notebook it replaces.
Children
RentMate is a business tool for landlords and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling RentMate removes everything it stored on your device. There is no server copy to request the deletion of, because none was ever created. Backup files you created yourself are yours to delete.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of RentMate ever collects or transmits data, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the app will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
